about

The instrumentals for Blaze were originally recorded by Marc when he was living in Berlin running a failing restaurant which specialized in arcane Italian cuisine. Julie heard it and fell in love, and in honor of the method by which the rest of the track was conceived, it’s all about getting very very very high (on legal plant medicines…).

lyrics

I hereby officially call this meeting adjourned
Let’s get blazed
We’ve got it all done, everything we had to do
Baby let’s blaze

Let’s get ripped
We’ll rip it right off the sick smoke stick
Let’s get fried
We won’t even know whether we’re dead or whether we’re alive

Let’s get fried
Forget your own name
Can’t count to ten
So I’ll try it again, try it again, try it again

Let’s get lost
Floating suspended in a gravity bong
Get so fried
We might even start to think that the Flat-Earthers could be right

Try it again

Heads are Heavy Los Angeles, California

After nearly a decade apart, Julie Edwards (Deap Vally, Deap Lips, Pity Party) and Marc Smollin (Pity Party, Say Fica) have reunited as Heads are Heavy, the kaleidoscopic culmination of a long, strange trip spanning Edwards and Smollin’s 30+ year friendship.

Embracing oblique strategies, Smollin and Edwards scavenge the sonic detritus of The Pity Party to create new, unexpected forms.
